The highlight of this release is our rebuilt web application, which brings a cleaner, faster, and fully responsive experience to participants. Alongside it, researchers now have finer control over how participants submit media with the new Allowed Sources setting for Image and Video questions, and two-factor authentication codes are delivered more reliably. We have also fixed some issues across notifications, surveys, and the participant experience. Here is everything new.
New Features
Allowed Sources for Image and Video Questions
We added a new “Allowed Sources” setting for Image and Video questions, giving researchers more control over how participants provide media. You can allow “All Sources”, require participants to use the “Camera Only”, or restrict responses to the “Gallery Only” option. For more details, see our Reference.
Improvements
Rebuilt Avicenna Web Application
We rebuilt the Avicenna web application from the ground up, with a cleaner, more modern interface designed for phones first. Screens such as study details, activities, data sources, chat, and settings look better and behave more consistently; pages load and navigate noticeably faster, and layouts now adapt properly across phone, tablet, and desktop screens.
Two-Factor Authentication SMS Improvements
We enhanced the delivery of SMS verification codes used for two-factor authentication. These improvements increase delivery reliability and help users receive authentication codes more consistently across supported regions.
Bug Fixes
Notifications for Multiple Researchers
We fixed an issue where session completion and session release notification templates configured to notify multiple researchers sent a notification only to the first recipient. Notifications are now created separately for each selected researcher, ensuring everyone receives the intended notification when the trigger occurs.
Raw Translation Keys Display
We resolved a problem where some parts of the platform displayed raw translation keys instead of the intended user-facing text. Affected dialogs and pages now correctly display localized help messages and labels, providing a clearer, more polished user experience.
Incorrect Date in My Progress
We addressed an issue in the participant My Progress view where the date shown in a group’s section header was one calendar day earlier than the sessions listed beneath it and did not match the header’s own “Today” or “Tomorrow” label. Group headers now show the correct date for the sessions they contain.
VAS Question Slider Rendering
We fixed an issue where VAS questions did not render correctly in researcher-responded sessions. The slider now displays its interactive track as expected, allowing researchers to select and update responses without issues.
Notification Template Validation
We addressed several issues affecting notification templates in the Activity Editor. Creating notification templates for Page and Wheel of Fortune activities no longer causes unexpected errors, and we added additional validation to prevent unsupported notification events from being linked to incompatible activity types. We also improved validation messages to help researchers identify and resolve configuration issues before publishing.
