This release focuses on the participant experience in our new web app, along with a step forward in iOS App Usage data collection. We’re introducing a Capture Mode option that lets you gather Screen Time data across a participant’s Apple devices rather than just one, and we’ve fixed a set of survey-taking issues around camera selection, answer placeholders, and scrolling on smaller screens.
Improvements
Cross-Device App Usage on Apple Devices
We added a Capture Mode option to the iOS App Usage data source, allowing researchers to collect Screen Time data from the current device only or all supported Apple devices. Exports now include a Source column identifying each record as iPhone, iPad, Mac, or unknown. Cross-device collection requires the same Apple Account, iCloud sign-in, and Share Across Devices to be enabled. For more details, see our Reference.
Bug Fixes
Camera Switching in Capture Dialogs
We fixed an issue in the new web app where image and video questions used only the front-facing camera. The capture dialog had no device picker, so participants on phones or computers with more than one webcam could not reach the rear camera. A switch-camera control is now available, letting participants list available cameras and switch between them before recording.
Single-Choice Answer Placeholders
We resolved an issue in the web app where placeholders referencing single-choice answers were rendered as empty text. Survey questions and end-section content can now correctly display the selected option’s text when it is referenced through a placeholder.
Survey Scrolling and Section Navigation
We addressed an issue where long survey questions and answer inputs could be clipped on smaller screens or with enlarged text, leaving parts of the content inaccessible. Surveys now allow participants to scroll to the full question and its input. We also fixed an issue where moving to a new section could leave the page scrolled down instead of returning to the top.
