Hello everyone,
This week, you will need a bit more time to review the release notes, as we have been hard at work behind the scenes improving and fixing things to enhance your experience in Avicenna.
Improvements
Survey Display Mode
We added the Display Mode setting to surveys, allowing questions to appear either one per page or all together in their section. This helps present related items cohesively for participants. For more details, see our Reference.
Weight Slider Range in Garmin SDK
We improved the weight slider in the Garmin SDK on Android by reducing its range from 0–500 to 0–200 kg. This change makes adjustments easier and more user-friendly.
Onboarding Banner Display
We updated the onboarding alerts banner on the iOS app to display before the participation start time, enabling participants to prepare in advance. This includes pairing wearables and granting necessary permissions, ensuring a smoother and fully ready experience when the study begins.
Bug Fixes
Notifications Export
We fixed an issue in the researcher dashboard where the “Export Results as CSV” option was visible in the Notifications page’s filtering dialog. Now, the export option is hidden as intended; we haven’t supported that option yet.
Survey Skipped Questions Reason
We resolved an issue in the Android app where skipped questions in sections without loops, as well as the last question of a survey skipped by pressing the submit button, were assigned incorrect “Unanswered” reasons in the researcher dashboard. Now, skipped questions are correctly marked as “Skipped”.
Answer Files with Uppercase Extensions
We addressed an issue in the participant web app where uploading files with uppercase extensions as responses to survey questions caused errors. The system now treats file extensions case-insensitively, allowing surveys to proceed smoothly regardless of the file name format.
Answer File Upload
Related to the previous issue, we addressed an issue where uploading answer files in the iOS app caused a “Sorry, something went wrong” error. File uploads now work correctly for supported formats.
Large Numbers on Achievements Page
We fixed an issue where entering very large numbers in the “Tier Qualification Threshold” or formula fields on the Achievements page caused a “Something went wrong” error. The system now enforces limits of up to 8 digits for threshold and 6 digits for formula, providing clear messages to guide researchers when these limits are exceeded.
Expired Survey Screen
We resolved an issue where tapping a notification for an expired survey on Android opened a screen that became unresponsive. Participants can now view the “Survey expired” message and either close the screen or return to the home screen without needing to force-close the app.
Thank you for your continued feedback and support, which helps us make Avicenna Research better with each release. We hope you find these updates useful. As always, we welcome your feedback and encourage you to reach out with any comments or questions on our Community Forum or contact us directly via Email. Stay tuned for more updates coming your way!
