Hello everyone,
We’re excited to share this week’s release with you! We’ve been rolling out new features and continue to expand Avicenna’s capabilities, and this update is a big one. You can now integrate HealthKit and SwitchBot with Avicenna, allowing researchers to collect a broader range of health, activity, and environmental data. Here’s an overview of what’s new:
New Features
HealthKit Integration
Avicenna now supports HealthKit, enabling researchers to collect health and activity data directly from participants’ iOS devices. This includes metrics such as steps, heart rate, sleep, ECG, mood tracking, and more. For more details, see our HealthKit Reference.
SwitchBot Integration
Avicenna can now integrate with SwitchBot smart home devices, allowing researchers to collect environmental data for behavioral and environmental studies. For more details, see our SwitchBot Reference.
Improvements
SensorKit
SensorKit is now visible on the Data Sources and Data Export pages. You still need to contact Support to enable this data source for your study. For more details, see our SensorKit Reference.
Back-Swipe Navigation
We enabled the iOS back-swipe gesture on the Avicenna app, allowing participants to navigate back without relying on the top-left back button.
Bug Fixes
Data Collection Toggle Crash
We fixed an issue where the iOS app would crash after toggling the Allow Data Collection setting and returning to the Home screen. Changing Data Collection settings is now stable.
Technical Updates
Minimum iOS Version
We’ve updated the minimum required iOS version to iOS 16. This ensures compatibility with the latest iOS APIs and improves overall stability of the app.
Thank you for your continued feedback and support which helps us make Avicenna Research better with each release. We hope you find these updates useful. As always, we welcome your feedback and encourage you to reach out with any comments or questions on our Community Forum or contact us directly via Email. Stay tuned for more updates coming your way!
