Hello everyone,
We’re excited to share the latest updates in this release! This version brings powerful new features, visual enhancements, and key bug fixes designed to improve your experience with Avicenna Research. Let’s take a closer look:
New Features
Analysis Page
We introduced the Analysis page in the researcher dashboard, providing detailed insights into participant data quality, engagement, and retention. This view helps researchers monitor study performance, identify issues, and better understand data collection trends over time. For more details, see our Reference.
Mira Integration
Avicenna is now integrated with Mira. This allows researchers to access hormone measurements, menstrual cycle data, and participant-reported daily logs collected through Mira devices. For more details, see our Reference.
Data Collection Configuration
Researchers and Test participants can now configure how frequently data is collected from non-cloud-based sources such as GPS and motion sensors, providing greater control over data collection while balancing accuracy and device performance. For more details, see our Reference.
Improvements
Sign-up Screen Redesign
We redesigned the sign-up screen by refining the layout, colors, typography, spacing, and adding support for light and dark modes. The steps and required information remain unchanged; this update focuses only on the visual experience.
Displaying Number Values in the Survey Editor
We improved how numbers appear in fields across the Survey Editor. Previously, very small or large numbers were displayed in scientific notation (for example, 1e-9). We now show the full numeric values instead, making them easier to read.
Bug Fixes
Validation for Non-existent Sender Questions
We fixed an issue where importing a survey JSON definition file could fail with a generic error if a receiver question referenced a sender question that did not exist. The system now detects this case and shows a clear validation error, helping researchers identify the invalid configuration.
Data Export Page Redirect
We resolved an issue where reloading the Data Export page while waiting for a data export could redirect users to the Basics page. Users now remain on the page when refreshing.
Receiver Question Export
We fixed an issue where response exports for receiver questions were incorrect when the corresponding sender question was inside a loop and had additional custom answer options. The receiver question’s responses are now exported as a single field containing the full JSON of all selected options, ensuring complete and consistent export data.
Session Creation for Unpublished Survey
We fixed a bug that allowed activity sessions to be created for unpublished surveys on the Activity Sessions page. Session creation is now correctly prevented for any survey that hasn’t been published.
Section Display Criteria for Anonymous Participants
We resolved an issue where sections using since‑registration criteria were still shown in Section display mode for anonymous participants. Conditions that depend on registration date or time are now always evaluated as false for anonymous users.
Thank you for your continued feedback and support, which helps us make Avicenna Research better with each release. We hope you find these updates useful. As always, we welcome your feedback and encourage you to reach out with any comments or questions on our Community Forum or contact us directly via Email. Stay tuned for more updates coming your way!
