I have been running a test pilot with 12 of our enumerator’s work tablets and had enabled app usage and lock screen status; the latter seems to be working, but when I download the app usage it is a blank CSV even when I select the date range and all participants. I had tried downloading it the day after I started (~a week ago) and this wasn’t an issue. Am I missing something?

Thanks for reaching out. App Usage requires a special device permission called “Usage Access,” separate from the regular permissions (like location or notifications) that participants grant when they first set up the app. If this permission isn’t granted on a device, that device simply has no App Usage data to export, which is why the export can come back blank even when other data sources (like lock screen status) are working normally.
How to fix it
On the affected devices:
Once this is enabled, App Usage data will begin collecting going forward. Please note that data from before the permission was granted cannot be recovered, since it was never recorded on the device.
Since we reviewed this issue by looking at each device’s data individually, some devices may need further investigation on a case-by-case basis. If the issue isn’t resolved after following the steps above, please reach out to us via our support email so we can look into the specific device(s) still affected and provide you with more detailed information regarding the affected devices.
Many thanks for taking the time to answer here - that function was already turned on when I set up the app, but what worked to resolve the issue was actually going to Settings > Apps > Avicenna > Permissions > Physical Activity then selecting ‘allow’
(to note the AI chatbot function from Avicenna was very helpful for problem solving this!)
