In-Operation Percent per day

We have encountered strange spikes in screen state data that do not line up with other screen state data from a separate source. We have been referring to the in-operation percentage that is provided, but we were wondering if you could provided a day-by-day in-operation percentage? Meaning instead of the overall percentage for the whole time period, could you provide the percentage for each day in the time period?

Hi Sophia @skoesterer

This is Amin from Avicenna product team, and I’ll be glad to assist you with this,

In-operation does not reflect the screen state of the phone, it indicates an estimate of when the app was running on the participant’s phone, and when it was not. If you want to detect the screen state, you need to manually add that data source to monitor the 4 different states of the phone screen (it will present the data in timestamps):

  • ON & LOCKED

  • ON & UNLOCKED

  • OFF & LOCKED

  • OFF & UNLOCKED

moreover, please note that due to Apple’s policy for background applications, if your participants close the Avicenna app by swiping, the data collection will come to a halt. To resolve this issue, Avicenna runs a periodic check every 30 minutes and will notify the participants, but due to Apple’s policy there’s no way for any application to collect data after the app is terminated by the participant. For more info, please read here: Background Data Collection | Avicenna Learn

Please let me know if you need further help with this and I’ll be more than happy to help you.

Best regards,
Amin
