Hi,
I have a participant who has an Android and our study is using GPS. They signed up this morning and we went through setting the app up together and everything seemed fine, but it says in operation 0%. Does anyone know why this may be the case or how I could fix this?
Hi @asusnacstudy
First of all let’s go through the basics:
In operation
is the percentage of time the app was running and collecting sensor data from the participant’s device. GPS data is not collected continuously. Avicenna starts collecting fresh GPS records every 5 minutes. Avicenna collects GPS data until it reads 3 accurate data points for a maximum period of 60 seconds. So, it seems logical that the GPS data takes up a small percentage of the time compared to the total time that the app is running.
- Make sure that the Avicenna app permitted to collect GPS data. You can read more about that here
- Try exporting the GPS data to make sure that there’s actually no GPS data recorded on our end. To do that go to the “Data export” tab from the sidebar, select the aforementioned participant, Select the GPS under the Data Source drop-down and then choose the time-period that should have the GPS data. Click on export, wait for the file to be ready and then download the CSV file and see if there’s any GPS data recorded there or not.
If the issue remained, please provide the following details:
- Study ID
- Participant’s ID
- Device info (model, operating system, etc)
The more specific, the better we can help.
Thanks
