When creating a survey with `Single Answer` or `Multiple Answer` questions, it might be important to allow the participants the flexibility to enter their own answer if it’s not provided as an option.

To achieve this, you can include an `Other` option in the answer choices and add a follow-up `Text` question where the participants can type in their answers. In the steps below we use a `Single Answer` question but the same flow can be applied to `Multiple Answer` questions.

1. Add the `Single Answer` question along with the available answer options. For example, let’s say the question should ask for the participant’s favorite color: Red, Green, and Blue.

2. Add the `Other` as an option at the end of the list of answer options.

3. Add a `Text` question right after the `Single Answer` question.

4. Set a `Criteria` for the `Text` question based on the `Other` answer option from the `Single Answer` question. In our example, as you can see, the `Criteria` should be set to `Q1 == 4`. This configuration ensures that if a participant selects `Other`, they will be prompted with a `Text` question where they can enter their answer.

5. (Optional) You might want to change the `Type` of the `Text Question` to `Single Line`, since colors are either one word or a phrase.

6. Save and publish the survey.
